About the Program
Movie: Poor Things
Winner of four Academy Awards at last year’s Oscars, including Best Actress for Emma Stone, Poor Things from director Yorgos Lanthimos is a delightfully bizarre and exhilarating story of liberation and self-discovery. It follows Bella Baxter, a reanimated corpse with an infantile brain on a journey of sexual and social emancipation through a stylized impression of 19th century Europe. With gorgeously rendered environments and a whip-smart script, the film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, and Willem Dafoe.
Showtime begins at 6:00, with discussion afterwards at about 8:20 pm.
Admission is free. No food or drink permitted in the Library Theatre.
