New Databases

Moose Jaw Public Library is now offering access to three more databases of interest.


 

Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center offers comprehensive full-text content for many of the most popular hobbies, crafts and recreation activities today. This database offers detailed “how-to” instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast. Full text is provided from leading hobby and craft magazines, including Bead & Button, Birder’s World, Creative Knitting, FineScale Modeler, Quilter’s World, and many more.

The definitive online resource for home improvement assistance

Through a collection of comprehensive full-text content, Home Improvement Reference Center provides users with detailed, user-friendly “how-to” information covering all manner of home improvement/repair projects. All of the content is organized in a powerful, easy-to-use manner so that users can quickly gain the information they need.

***Note when accessing this database you will get the message “Please contact your library administrator to obtain a patron ID”. Your patron ID is your library card barcode number.

 

Columbia Granger's Poetry Database

 

Columbia Granger’s® Poetry Database, produced by Columbia University Press, contains works of poetry found in anthologies, and volumes of collected works and selected works for individual poets. Currently, there are more than 425,000 poem citations and over 219,000 poems in full text (with thousands of additional poems in full text to be added with each update). Also included is bibliographic information for over 1,800 anthologies. Supplemental information includes nearly 1,000 commentaries and approximately 450 biographies. Hyperlinking exists throughout the commentaries, biographies, and poem full text. Users can easily jump from poems to relevant commentary or author biographies when appropriate. A glossary is also provided, giving users detailed definitions for over 300 poetry specific terms.

 

Wireless Access is available at Moose Jaw Public Library!

No Library card or access code is needed. Just bring in your wireless Internet device and connect to MJ Library for free and unlimited access.

Three Easy Steps to Connect to our Wireless Network:

 

1. Locate the Wi-Fi icon in the lower right corner in the System Tray, by the clock and volume control.

2. Click on the icon to View Available Networks (or click to Open Wireless Connection)

3. Search for or refresh the Network List. Select MJ Library, and then click the Connect Button. Your computer will now connect to the Library’s wireless network.

If you choose to save this network, your computer will automatically connect the next time you visit!

Note: Laptops vary, so these steps may be slightly different for your      computer.

TumbleBooks at Moose Jaw Public Library

TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of TumbleBooks – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they’ll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.

Did you know…

Library Press Display provides users with the electronic version of today’s edition of over 1,400 newspapers from 70 countries in 37 languages. Users can read the latest newspapers from Canada and other countries online on the day they are published. It has the same look and feel as the print version. It also provides text to speech function for English language newspapers, and allows users to translate articles to 12 different languages. Newspapers are archived for 14 or 60 days.
